"The Witcher" Season 2 will probably be available on Netflix in 2021, but until then, expect plenty of nibbles. Today, Netflix revealed the new cast members who will be joining Geralt and friends in their next adventure, but there are a few omissions.
Redanian Intelligence leaked the role of Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju earlier in the week, but we're still happy to confirm that there will be more hairy wildlings. He will play Niverin, a man cursed to transform into a monstrous bear.
The trio of witchers joining the show was also leaked earlier, but one witcher was missing: Vesemir; Netflix confirmed the leak but has yet to announce anything about who will play Geralt's mentor. There was a considerable push to get Mark Hamill to play the role, but it looks like we'll have to wait to find out if that was successful.
Even if you skipped the main story and only played "The Witcher 3," you will recognize many of the names. For example, the wizards Lambert and Eskel appear during the quest and upon returning to Caer Morhen. Lambert is the sarcastic jerk and Eskel is the responsible one. They belong to different schools of monster hunters, along with another Witcher, Cohen.
The second season of The Witcher is said to be a bit more linear than its time-hopping predecessor, but the details of the storyline are still a mystery. There is certainly no shortage of stories. Meanwhile, an animated adaptation of The Witcher is also in the works. No release date has been set, but it will likely appear before Season 2.
