Kerbal Space Program 2 trailer shows off nuclear propulsion, metallic hydrogen, and torchships

"Kerbal Space Program 2" may have been delayed, but development and dreams of a billion little green things have not slowed down. A new mini-documentary and slash trailer from new studio Private Division talks about the near-future technology incorporated into the massive sequel to everyone's favorite rocket explosion simulator Kerbal Space Program 2 is a game whose predecessor was one of the best games on PC in It's long been considered one of the best games on the PC, so there is a lot of anticipation around here.

First included is nuclear propulsion, a real-life concept that was scrapped because everyone was afraid to use actual nuclear bombs to travel through the solar system. But the Kerbals have no fear and are ready to take full advantage of nuclear propulsion; the second new technology is metallic hydrogen, a theoretical fuel that burns much more powerfully than the liquid oxide used in the original Kerbal Space Program's top-of-the-line rockets. Producing this fuel in space will be the primary focus of the planetary colony. In the mid- to late-game, metallic hydrogen rockets use magnetic fields to form thrust. Late in the game, interstellar transportation using larger rockets is also being considered. Finally, KSP2 will feature torchships (huge, ridiculously powerful rockets like those depicted in the popular science fiction show "The Expanse"). If, like me, you grew up on mid-century science fiction, just hearing the word "torchship" will get you excited.

If that's too technical for you, say it with me: big rockets cause big booms. If you don't already know, here's everything we know about Kerbal Space Program 2. Here's the video:
