Ranked Competitions, Houses, and "Dojo Wars" in Temtem!

A month after its launch in Steam Early Access, the cute little Pokémon look-alike "Temtem" is going strong, and developer Crema announced last week that it has sold more than 500,000 units. The "short-term roadmap" released today looks ahead to this spring, summer, and fall and covers balance changes, matchmaking, club management, in-game tournaments, new islands to play on, and more.

"Keep in mind that not every detail described here will make it 100% into the game. During the development cycle of a game, ideas change constantly, and what you like today you may not like as much tomorrow. So please take everything that is written here as something that we want to include in the game, not as a confirmed fact," said Crema.

That also applies to the dates included in the roadmap: "It puts unnecessary pressure on the team and makes it a very difficult task to make changes and replace features. But we know that everyone likes dates, so we decided to include a release date in each feature block. But we know everyone likes dates.

Balance patches will be released "frequently" during the Early Access period, but until the Tem Tem roster is fully complete, the developers are not going to insist on making everything perfect. Because there is only a limited set of tem tems and techniques, it is impossible to balance everything perfectly. Even with a less than perfect balance, we've already seen some team-ups and strategies, so don't be afraid to try something new and step into the competitive scene with TemuTemu."

The initial matchmaking is based on an ELO system called TMR-Temtem Matchmaking Rating. The developers also plan to implement an autoscaling system for ranked queues. This means that players participating in ranked matches will need to capture and organize teams, complete quests, breed new temtems, and more, but will not have to struggle or waste their budgets before they are able to participate. Autoscaling only applies to ranked matchmaking; in other modes, such as in-game tournaments and dojo battles, you will need to create the perfect temtem yourself.

Spectator mode, in-game chat, clubs, houses, and achievements are also part of the short-term plan for Temtem. Trading houses, dojo wars, and a new end-game island are also planned, but further down the road, and more details on these will be announced tomorrow.
