Grimes Reveals How Cyberpunk 2077 Character Became a Solid Chrome Cyborg

In December, CD Projekt announced that musician Grimes will voice Lizzy Wizzy, the frontwoman of Lizzy Wizzy and the Metadwarves, in the upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077. She also introduced a bit of music she might provide for the game's soundtrack, but other than that, nothing else was said about the character, the band, or the role they will play in the game.

However, in a recent livestream promoting her new album, Miss Anthropocene, Grimes herself seemed to reveal a bit of the story behind the characters. Naturally, this could be a potential spoiler, so judge for yourself.

The original video has been removed from YouTube and the mirror has been kept private, but Redditor Ros96 has transcribed the relevant part: "I did the voice acting for Lizzie Wizzy. I did voice acting for Lizzie Wizzie and that game is a piece of shit. That game was amazing, and the pop star I played killed herself on stage, and I ran right in and did emergency surgery and replaced her whole body with cybernetics while she was dead for an hour and finished the show as a cyborg. It was one of the greatest pieces of performance art ever."

While it certainly sounds cyberpunk-ish, there is no way to confirm the accuracy of this account, nor is there any way to determine whether it occurs as an in-game event or merely functions as character lore. However, as redditor SanJN010 noticed, Lizzie Weezy's death on stage was actually mentioned in the cyber Cylons seen in 48 minutes of gameplay released in 2018.

I emailed CD Projekt asking about the Lizzy Wizzy leak and will update if I hear back. Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled for release on September 17, and here is Grimes performing "4ÆM" at the 2019 Game Awards, which is expected to be included on the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack.
