CD Projekt Red and PUBG Corp abandon PAX plans due to coronavirus concerns.

The spread of the new coronavirus continues to wreak havoc on gaming conventions, with a number of major companies canceling their participation at PAX East. The convention kicks off this Thursday in Boston, but both CD Projekt Red and PUBG Corp. announced last-minute that they would not be attending.

Stephanie Beyer, CD Projekt Red's North American public relations director, clarified the studio's decision in a tweet earlier today. 'I have learned that my team will be canceling our participation in PAX East. The studio's next major game, Cyberpunk 2077, has not been confirmed for the convention.

Gamespot also confirmed that PUBG Corp has canceled its PAX East 2020 commitment. The two join a list of PAX East cancellations that includes Sony, Square Enix, and Capcom, although the latter's planned Monster Hunter: Festa will still take place.

EA, Facebook, Sony, and Kojima Productions (including director Hideo Kojima himself) have already pulled out of exhibiting at GDC 2020.

CORRECTION: This article originally reported that PUBG Corp had withdrawn from GDC 2020. This reference has been removed as the company did not plan to attend. It was also added that neither company planned to participate in panels or the exhibit hall.
