GOG's new refund policy is much more generous than Steam's.

GOG has made changes to its refund policy, simplifying the process and ensuring that refunds are given even if the game has been played, as long as the refund is requested within 30 days.

Previously, GOG's policy was a bit stricter than something like Steam's, as refunds were only guaranteed if the game had been downloaded and not played. Refunds could be appealed for other reasons as well, but not liking the game was not one of them. Now I have no such concerns.

If you did play the game, that's ok. It doesn't matter how long you play. Since most games can theoretically be completed in a month, this new policy is quite likely to be abused, but GOG is keeping an eye on refunds to make sure they are not abused.

"We are monitoring the impact of the current update to make sure no one is using this policy to hurt developers who put their time and heart into making great games," the FAQ states. "We reserve the right to deny refunds in such individual cases. We will also provide advance notice of any future adjustments to our voluntary refund policy."

The new refund policy is now in effect.

I previously stated that it is "no questions asked," but GOG has clarified that it will treat each refund request individually and ask the customer why they are seeking a refund.
