Latest HyperX headsets support wireless charging with Qi pads

Wireless gaming headsets are everywhere these days, and if you're HyperX, you've got the Qi wireless charging standard. The company's new Cloud Flight S is the first gaming headset to use this standard, and if you own a Qi charging pad, you can power it up without having to plug it in when it runs out of charge. [As the wireless gaming peripheral market continues to grow, we are pleased to begin shipping the first gaming headset to support Qi wireless charging. The Cloud Flight S is a great wireless headset for those who want high-quality audio and the freedom and flexibility to play without cables."

HyperX claims that the Cloud Flight S can be used for up to 30 hours on a single charge. It broadcasts at 2.4 GHz using an included dongle, and its range is claimed to be up to 20 meters. Naturally, battery life and actual wireless range depend on specific usage and setup.

The Cloud Flight S features large 50mm drivers; HyperX says the headset is custom-tuned to deliver virtual 7.1 surround sound with "crystal clear highs, mids and lows."

We have not yet tested the headset, but there are several reviews with mixed impressions; Android Central praises it as offering "outstanding comfort and sound," albeit with an "inferior microphone," and VentureBeat is similarly impressed with the sound quality. The Verge, however, called the sound "lackluster."

If you want to take the plunge, the Cloud Flight S is currently available for $159.99; it is unfortunate that it does not come with a Qi wireless charging pad, but at least the Qi wireless charging pad is relatively inexpensive.
