Apex Legends Executive Producer Drew McCoy Leaves Respawn

Drew McCoy, executive producer of Apex Legends and producer of Titanfall, is leaving Respawn Entertainment. McCoy announced his plans to "find a new challenge" on Twitter earlier this week.

Prior to his 10 years at Respawn, McCoy worked at Infinity Ward on "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and "Modern Warfare 2" with studio co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella. He was one of many Infinity Ward employees who followed West and Zampella to Respawn after a nasty split with Activision.

He was not as high-profile at Respawn as CEO Zampella (co-founder West left in 2013), but the success of Apex Legends raised his profile considerably: in its third quarter financial report in January, Electronic Arts continued Apex Legends' reported continued growth, noting that the third season's peak daily active users exceeded that of the second season, and that further expansion of the game is planned for 2021. An Apex Legends professional league with a prize pool of more than $3 million was also launched in January.
