Final Fantasy 3" gets an update and a half-price sale.

Final Fantasy 3 was last updated on June 12, 2014, but yesterday Steam's update feed came alive with news of new features and healthy discounts. *It's a triumphant thematic cue for Final Fantasy.

The update adds a "brand new UI," optimized controller settings, auto-battle options, ultra widescreen support, and a "gallery mode." In addition, new Chinese (traditional and simplified), Korean, Thai, and Japanese language support.

Auto-battle allows you to speed up combat with the press of a button and have your party automatically beat up enemies with normal attacks. It's great for wiping out trashy goblins in early caves and reduces the frustration of FF3's persistent random battles.

The gallery has a cache of concept art and a music player so you can listen to background music whenever you want. I haven't played much FF3 on PC, so I don't know exactly how the UI has changed, but for the first few minutes I checked the game this morning, there seemed to be a problem with text overlapping with boxes, as you can see below.

It remains a Final Fantasy classic, and until Monday, March 2, Final Fantasy 3 is available for 50% off on Steam.
