The retro shooter genre has mostly focused on being like Doom or Quake. It's a fast-paced game that focuses on instant reflexes and figuring out your enemies rather than outwitting them. That's not so bad. But what about late-90s shooters like "Deus Ex" and "System Shock?"

According to the developers, it's a slower-paced game that focuses on understanding the environment and how to conserve limited resources, rather than flying through levels blasting everything in sight. An announcement trailer was released.

Core Decay tells the story of an amnesiac cyborg exploring a facility left behind by a mysterious "contingency pact." The setting is a resource-starved planet ruled by tyrannical corporations and on the verge of a complete ecological collapse. Players will progressively evolve themselves with cybernetic upgrades to either maintain their humanity or reject it and become something more. Along the way, they can collect and upgrade weapons as they explore the game's levels.Core Decay will release an open beta later this year, and you can learn more about it on Core Decay's official website or on developer Ivar Hill's Patreon.
