Truckmania Nations" to be remade with live service.

Ubisoft's hectic racing series, Trackmania, returns for another round. The latest addition to the series is a remake of 2006's Trackmania Nations, a free-to-play spin-off that was boosted by in-game advertising. The original is still available on Steam, but the remake appears to include new features such as a seasonal campaign and the option to add custom tracks.

The original Trackmania Nations boasted a wealth of content, including solo tracks, multiplayer modes, and custom creations, but Nadeo Nadeo realized that, with most games, players rush through the campaign and never play it again. According to Managing Director Florent Castelnerac, the new season system is a response to that.

In addition to regular official campaigns designed by Nadeo and daily track selections chosen from player-submitted maps, expect regular updates and new customization options and features coming in future seasons.

Racers can compete in friendly casual competitions, daily and weekly races, and Nadeo also plans to host a variety of cup competitions as well as international pro-level leagues, open leagues, and seasonal campaign rankings.

While some players may leave after the campaign, Trackmania has managed to retain many players thanks to its track creators. This time around, Trackmania Nations' creator has been upgraded with new physics surfaces and blocks that can modify the behavior of the cars, including slow-motion blocks.

Despite the new additions, Ubisoft Nadeo has kept the basics simple; Nadeo hopes that the ability to race with ghosts will improve players' racing skills. Also, since Trackmania is primarily a fast, acrobatic race, players can conveniently respawn at checkpoints and still maintain their speed.

A release date has not yet been announced.
