It's an interesting new roguelike from the designers of West of Loathing.

"A possessed can of asparagus tries to stab turtle-user Mekvelt with an asparagus spear, causing seven poisons" This is a very strange sentence to read unless you've played the long-running browser-based RPG "The Kingdom of Loathing" or 2017's wonderfully funny comedy RPG "West of Loathing It's an extremely odd sentence to read unless you've played Kingdom of Rogueing, the new roguelike by Zach Johnson, the designer of.

Kingdom of Rogueing is like a fusion of the two earlier Loathing games. It is a fantasy-like RPG filled with vampires, ghosts, snakes, skeletons, demons, and possessed vegetable cans, and because it is made with SWOLE (Standard West of Loathing Engine), the combat works much the same way as West of Loathing. So if you were hoping for more of a stick-figure RPG comedy, you got your wish.

Once you have your character sussed out, you will randomly explore five different locations in any order you like: a spooky cave, a dusty gulch, a cursed graveyard, a mansion, and a wizard's tower. Fight enemies in turn-based combat and loot everything you can to get your hands on magic hot dogs, lasagna bandages, enchanted pants, various cocktails, and of course, hats. Naturally, you will also accumulate Meat, Loathing's standard currency, which can be spent in the towns between the main locations.

You can play in the Iron Adventurer mode, where losing even one battle is game over. In normal mode, you can continue playing the game even if you lose a battle, but you lose XP and Meat each time you lose. ("Don't worry about the details of how this works," the game helpfully explains.) I tried to play Kingdom of Rogueing several times, but only succeeded once.

Kingdom of Rogueing was produced as part of the 7-Day Roguelike Challenge and is currently available on Itch.io for a "name your own price" method.
