MSI extends some PC product warranties in response to the Corona virus.

MSI announced that it is offering a free two-month warranty extension to customers who own qualifying products whose warranties expire this month. According to the manufacturer, the extension is in response to the worldwide coronavirus health emergency.

"The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has taken the world by surprise with its infectious potential," MSI said. The epidemic has destroyed lives in many parts of the world, with new cases and tragic deaths being reported with each passing day."

"MSI remains fully committed to our mission of putting our customers first. In light of the health concerns surrounding coronaviruses around the world, we want to ensure that our valued customers never have to worry about anything other than their health and safety.

It is not clear to what extent the coronavirus has affected MSI's customer support operations. Nevertheless, the two-month warranty extension may be beneficial to those who own defective products whose warranties are about to expire. Although limited in scope (perhaps other companies will follow suit), this could buy time if one would rather avoid the public than leave packages at a distribution center.

There are a few caveats worth noting. One is that graphics cards are not included. The extended warranty applies to desktop PCs, motherboards, all-in-one computers, PC cabinets and cases, and monitors (all models).

You must also enroll in the MSI Rewards Program. There is no charge to join, but you still need to take the first step.

Eligible products are those whose warranty expires this month. And finally, this applies to customers living in Korea, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Spain, USA, Switzerland, Singapore, UK, Hong Kong, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Australia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, Belgium and Canada.

According to MSI, China is not included because customers living in China are already enrolled in the extended warranty program.
