Monster Hunter: World Iceborn" sold 5 million copies.

Capcom announced that "Monster Hunter: World" has surpassed 5 million copies: Iceborn.

The new figure is the first to include sales of the PC version, which launched in January, four months later than the console versions. Prior to that, the only figures specific to "Iceborne" had only counted sales through December 31, 2019, which was announced last month. At that point, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as a whole had sold 3.9 million units.

Compared to Capcom's other games, the Iceborn expansion alone is the seventh best-selling game of all time, surpassing the original Resident Evil 2, Monster Hunter Generations, and Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate. Capcom also announced that "Monster Hunter: World" itself sold more than 15 million units between December 31, 2019 and January 2, 2020. Happy New Year, Monster Hunter.

Monster Hunter is currently Capcom's largest series. In the same statement, the publisher confirmed future plans for the series, including support for the recently released mobile title Monster Hunter Riders and reaffirmed the release of the Monster Hunter movie, scheduled for September 2020. [It will be interesting to see if Capcom and Sony Pictures stick to this date, given that many movies have been delayed from 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
