Warframe's Tennocon 2020 Cancelled, But Operation Scarlet Spear Continues

Warframe is having a big year, and that big year means that the annual Tennocon will be held online instead of in person. That's because last year's event featured some really great announcements, and a story about Warframe's long struggle to reach its original design vision. We made the difficult decision to cancel the attendee event portion of TennoCon 2020 due to growing concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19)," The event will be held directly at the venue," said an official announcement from Digital Extremes. "While the event will not take place in person, Digital Extremes will be hosting an online event to digitally share the magic and excitement of TennoCon on July 11. Warframe, the game that has been envisioned for 15 years to It has finally arrived and is celebrating a momentous year with its biggest update ever earlier this year.

This week, developers announced details of the upcoming in-game event, Operation Scarlet Spear. The centerpiece seems to be a combined ground and space operation, with a team on the ground fighting the pesky Condrix sentient robots and a team in space defending the Oplink satellites on railjacks; such an operation using both Warframe's old and new systems is quite amazing, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the developers come up with for the event, It really shows how far the game has come in the seven years since its release. (Speaking of which, you can get a free item for the 7th anniversary.)

Most of this is detailed in this week's developer update:

Cheers, PCGN.
