Trailer for "Tales from the Borderlands Redux" leaked, hints at sequel

If the leaked trailer on Reddit is real, "Tales from the Borderlands" is back; the collaboration between Telltale and Gearbox was one of the best things to happen to "Borderlands," and now it looks like a "Redux" version is coming.

It's hard to tell from the split and trimmed trailer, but visually it doesn't look like much has changed. Bonus mini-episodes are also inserted.

While it is of course good news that the best of "Borderlands" is getting more love, it is somewhat overshadowed by the final teaser. The trailer reveals that "Redux" will be released in 2020, but then most of the numbers disappear, leaving a single number, "2."

In August, shortly after Telltale Games announced that the closed studio would be revived under new management, "Borderlands 3" screenwriter Sam Winkler expressed a desire to revive the spin-off.

"I'd like to resume where 'Tales from the Borderlands' Season 1 left off," Winkler told ComicBook.com."

"There are a lot of unresolved threads, and even though we've brought some characters into 'Borderlands 3,' there are still a lot of question marks," Winkler told ComicBook.com.

"Borderlands 3" will also feature characters from "Tales from the Borderlands," and since so much has happened in the world of "Borderlands" since the end of the first game in the series, the sequel will probably not continue where the previous game left off.

There is also the issue of voice acting. In the original version, Troy Baker voiced the co-protagonist Reese, but was replaced in Borderlands 3, reportedly because Gearbox only wanted to work with non-union talent. Hopefully, Reese and his sidekick, Fiona, voiced by Laura Bailey, will return in the sequel along with their original voice actors.

Gearbox and Telltale have yet to announce their plans for Tales from the Borderlands, but the trailer certainly looks compelling.
