Twitch Streamer Kaceytron Suspended Indefinitely for Coronavirus Comments

Popular Twitch streamer Kacey "Kaceytron" Caviness was suspended indefinitely by the platform for comments he made after being asked if he would kiss someone suffering from COVID-19, a coronavirus infection.

Kaceytron was chatting on Rajj Patel's stream when she was asked the question. She joked that she would do so and said she would try to spread the coronavirus as much as possible. [because] the world would be a better place without old, poor people."

With more than 200,000 people infected worldwide and over 8,000 deaths, it seems that her threats, especially to the "old and poor," have caused her to stop. The joke violated Twitch's community guidelines, which "involve hateful acts or threats of violence against individuals or groups."

She shared the suspension on Twitter, adding that she "does not condone hatred towards any person" and that it "does not reflect well on my character."

Temporary suspensions last up to 30 days, but indefinite suspensions can only be appealed. In some cases, Twitch may impose an indefinite suspension and give no opportunity to appeal, but the wording of Kaceytron's suspension suggests that she could overturn it.

Cheers, Dextero.
