Doom Eternal and its 2016 predecessor are incredibly good at keeping things moving. Serious Sam is similarly fast-paced, but thanks to the Serious Doom mod, the panicky magic of recent Doom games has been passed on.

The mod works with the first Serious Sam game (using Serious Sam Fusion) and does not change the original level design. Instead, the first five levels are filled with cool Doom Eternal items: jump pad, teleporter, swing pole, Doomguy's dash, blood punch, flaming shoulder gun, etc. And of course there are meat hooks and chainsaws.

The mod inherits Doom 2016's weapons, but adds Eternal's plasma gun, as well as all the enemies from the 2016 game (pictured above is the Revenant). Basically, Serious Doom inherits almost everything except the game world itself.

The mod is available on the Steam Workshop and is currently a demo version, but creator Danny S., along with many collaborators, plans to continue working on it later this year. The description promises, "You can expect a Serious DOOM full mod later this year, full of ethereal content, even things that seem impossible in Serious Sam."
