Many forgotten masterpieces are now available on GOG

Ziggurat Interactive announced in early March that it will focus primarily on bringing "classic console and PC games from the 80s, 90s, and beyond" to modern platforms, including not only remasters but also "new full-fledged sequels and brand new original games." Interestingly, both Darklands and Slave Zero were previously on GOG but were removed sometime in 2019. The reason for their removal was not disclosed, but was probably due to the transfer of rights.

Nostalgia is a very personal thing, so I can only speak for myself, but "Darklands" is the game on that list that I am most excited about: a dense, clunky, and wonderfully engaging party-based RPG set in the Holy Roman Empire in the 15th century. I didn't finish the game, but I did spend hours roaming the Germanic countryside, eating beef with laubritter, and trying to figure out a simple alchemical formula.
