EGX: Rezzed 2020 will apparently return in July

EGX: Rezzed 2020 was supposed to take place this month, but was postponed due to the coronavirus. However, organizer Reed Exhibitions says it will hold the event again in the summer, and while the new dates may not be realistic, it appears to be sticking to its policy.

The competition will take place July 2-4 at the Tobacco Dock in London. Details of the event will be announced soon; if you don't want to risk making plans to go to the July event, you can switch from an EGX ticket to a regular EGX ticket: those dates will be announced next week.

E3 2020, which was scheduled to take place in early June, was canceled earlier this month, and it is not certain whether the situation will improve in July as well. The coronavirus may subside by summer, but it remains to be seen when large public gatherings will be safe.

GDC 2020 has also been pushed back a month into the summer to August 4, but even that seems very optimistic given that the situation is expected to worsen; in the UK, where EGX: Rezzed will be held, the peak may be more than 10 weeks away and schools are closing today.

Cities and entire countries are on forced lockdown, and it is hard to imagine anyone planning to travel in the near future. The cost of postponement has already taken a heavy toll on developers. Funds are being raised to assist developers affected by the postponement, but they may not even be able to afford it.
