Mortal Kombat: The Complete Edition" Removed from Steam

NetherRealm's 2011 reboot of "Mortal Kombat" was initially console-only and was released on Steam a few years later as "Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition" with additional DLC that included Kratos from "God of War" and the film Freddy Krueger from "A Nightmare on Elm Street" appeared as playable characters. And now they have disappeared from Steam without any explanation.

Fans have speculated that this may be due to the fact that international rights to Freddy Krueger have reverted from Warner Brothers (publisher of Mortal Kombat) to the estate of Wes Craven (writer and director of Nightmare on Elm Street). However, there are many other reasons why games have been removed from Steam, including music rights expiration and re-releases or remasters of the games in question.

This is not the first time a Mortal Kombat game has been abruptly removed from Steam; Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection was removed in 2015 after the death of Games For Windows Live, on which it relied.

Thanks, VG24/7.
