Polish Government Launches Minecraft Server for Stay-at-Home Kids

In an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Poland has closed schools until at least April 10. Even with the proliferation of online classes, there is still the problem of keeping children, who tend to stay at home, occupied. The Polish government is working on a solution to that problem. Among other initiatives, they have just launched a Minecraft server.

"Gralantyna" is the name of the initiative, which packages mostly educational activities such as quizzes, game jams, online pen-and-paper sessions, and a Minecraft server. The Creative Server is aimed at elementary, high school, and college students, and each player will receive a 60x60 plot. Prizes will be awarded for the most impressive structures, and players will be encouraged to recreate "known structures." The contest runs from now until March 27.

Pretty good idea: Minecraft is a fairly benign game in creative mode, and with over 112 active players each month, many people have already installed it. If you are a student in Poland, you can learn how to register here. [In Japan, students hold their March graduation ceremony on a Minecraft server.
