Latest Nvidia GPU Drivers Optimized for Half-Life: Alyx and Resident Evil 3

Nvidia's latest "Game Ready" graphics driver (v445.75) provides immediate support for Half-Life: Alyx, a VR-only game built from the ground up for VR headsets. It is also optimized for the new ghost experiences in "Resident Evil 3" and "Ghost Recon Breakpoint," due out in April.

Drivers labeled Game Ready essentially mean that Nvidia's software engineers will focus on specific games to get the most performance possible while eliminating bugs. Of course, installing graphics drivers as soon as they are released is an unknown quantity, and some people prefer to wait a day or two (or more) to see if any unforeseen problems rear their heads.

Interestingly, the release notes (PDF) do not list any fixed issues, only a summary of known issues (pages 8 and 9). Some of them were carried over from previous driver releases and affect Doom Eternal in specific situations. For example, Nvidia has highlighted an issue with Doom Eternal's frame rate dropping when using Steam's in-game fps counter.

As Alan reported earlier today, Nvidia announced its second-generation deep learning supersampling technology known as DLSS 2.0 DLSS 2.0 appears to be a much-improved iteration, and the company is working on a new driver release for the new technology. For its part, this driver release also provides Game Ready optimizations for Control and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries with DLSS 2.0 enabled.

The latest drivers can be downloaded from GeForce Experience or obtained manually from Nvidia's website. If you are looking for installation tips, see our guide on how to update your drivers.
