Plague Inc. Announces New Mode for Players to Save the World from Deadly Diseases

The creators of Plague, Inc. have announced that they are developing a new mode for their pandemic strategy sim. The mode is being developed "with the help of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, and others."

The new mode will be offered free of charge to all players, but a release date has not yet been announced.

As noted in January, the spread of the coronavirus has been the subject of a series of reports by Plague, Inc. At the time, developers warned that Plague, Inc. was not a scientific model,

but was designed to be as realistic and informative as possible.

Ndemic Creations announced yesterday that the makers of Plague, Inc. have donated $250,000 to help in the fight against the coronavirus. The donation will be distributed to two organizations: the Coalition for Innovation in Epidemic Preparedness (CEPI) and the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. [Eight years ago, we never imagined the real world would resemble a Plague Inc. game, or that so many players would use Plague Inc. to help survive a real pandemic," said creator James Vaughan. 'We are proud to support WHO and CEPI in their important work to find a vaccine for COVID-19, and we look forward to working with them in the future.'

CEPI is "a global alliance that funds and coordinates the development of vaccines against emerging infectious diseases. "WHO's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund is a strategic preparedness and response to track the coronavirus, purchase and ship protective equipment for healthcare workers, and accelerate testing and vaccine development efforts It seeks to raise $675 million to fund the plan.
