Rumors of a "Silent Hill" reboot denied by Konami.

For those eagerly awaiting a new Silent Hill game, the past few months have been impressive: in January, a suitably accomplished leaker tweeted that several new Silent Hill games were in the works. More recently, there have been rumors that Sony is interested in acquiring Konami's numerous game software holdings, including "Metal Gear," "Castlevania," and "Silent Hill," and that Kojima's long-aborted "Silent Hills" project (which gave birth to "P.T.") is being revived There were also rumors that Kojima might be involved in some way in the revival of the long-aborted "Silent Hills" project (the project that spawned "P.T.").

Ah, what a tangled web. Konami told PCGamesN in January, "I can't talk about anything at this time, but we are listening to customer feedback and looking at ways to offer the next title." [However, recent rumors of supposed involvement between Sony and Kojima have elicited a more firm, official response from Konami. A Konami representative told Rely on Horror, "We are aware of all the rumors and reports, but we have confirmed that they are not true. We know this is not the answer fans want to hear."

This is about as forthright as one can expect a publisher to be when confronted with a rumor. If Sony is involved, there is a good chance that a new Silent Hill game will not be released on PC (Horizon: Zero Dawn will be released, so who knows, it's a crazy world). Either way, it will still be a while before this series rears its head again.
