Rogue Company shows its mettle in new gameplay trailer

Rogue Company, the upcoming third-person multiplayer shooter from Hi-Rez Studios, promises to put an anti-hero twist on the cooperative PvP game and today premiered its first gameplay trailer.

The game will be announced as part of a Nintendo Direct on September 5, 2019, and the new trailer is the first major development update since mid-November of last year. In the game, players become a team of mercenaries with a series of unique abilities, many of which utilize decidedly insidious tactics, such as those who perform stealth assassinations by muffling footsteps or setting barbed wire traps to entangle unwary enemies, in both 4vs4 and 2vs2 game modes, as well as You will be fighting a team of shady rivals.

As the trailer above shows, there is certainly no shortage of interesting ways to get into trouble in "Rogue Company," from environmental hazards such as auto-firing security panels to zip-lines that send characters through a gauntlet of laser grids. The game begins with the team in wingsuits in the arena, riding a contraption that looks like it was made for Captain America's sidekick Falcon, and from there it's a flashy juggling act as they shoot and reload the game's various weapons.

"Rogue Company" is slated for release in summer 2020 and will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC and on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The developer has confirmed that the game will support both cross-platform play and cross-progression, and also promises an "ever-growing roster of mercenaries, game modes, weapons and gadgets" to keep players engaged.
