Latest "Dead Cells" Patch Adds "Half-Life" Barre

To celebrate the launch of Half-Life: Alyx, Dead Cells has added new weapons, skins, and meals themed around the Half-Life universe. The weapon is, of course, a crowbar, which delivers a critical hit right after breaking down doors and "breakable props". This is available now and may or may not be a desperate bid to secure a free Index kit from Valve.

Another piece of good news is that the next major update to Dead Cells (the 18th so far) is now playable on Steam's alpha version. This update adds six new enemies, three of which are associated with specific biomes, while the others are "placed in various boss cells at various levels. Motion Twin does not specify exactly where these enemies are located, so you will have to discover them yourself.

Update 18 will also introduce portable doors. This "covers your back while you deal with mobs in front of you and allows you to get an elegant stun effect when you turn around." Eight "normal" affixes and three "star" affixes will also be added. For full patch notes, click here.

Motion Twin warns that it is recommended to back up your saves before joining the alpha. To access it, one must right-click on Dead Cells in the Steam library, click on "Properties," then the "Beta" tab, and opt in to the "Alpha - not for the faint of heart" option.
