CD Projekt Red donates nearly $1 million to fight coronavirus

CD Projekt Red, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077, is donating PLN 4 million (£770,000 / approx. $970,000) in cooperation with a Polish NGO to help stop the spread of a coronavirus outbreak in Poland.

Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CD Projekt Red, announced the donation on LinkedIn, revealing that it will be split between the company itself, which will donate PLN 2 million, and the board of directors and major shareholders, who will donate the remaining PLN 2 million.

The developer is working with The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy), the largest NGO in the country. They raise funds for medical equipment, pediatric and elderly care.

Ivinsky's statement can be read at. [Fundacja Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, a well-established Polish NGO with over 20 years of history in medical device fundraising, today donated PLN 4 million to fight the spread of COVID-19 in Poland. The company's board of directors and major shareholders donated PLN 2 million, and the company itself donated an additional PLN 2 million.

We thank all the brave people who fight for our well-being every day and hope that these funds will help in the effort to rid us of the virus.

CD Project Red switched to remote development last week." We believe this will ensure the highest level of health safety for all team members." With more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases in Poland, people are being advised to stay home as much as possible.

Cheers, IGN SEA.
