Corona Relief Dawn Quick fights coronavirus with speed runs

In bad news, Summer Games Done Quick, the Games Done Quick charity speedrun extravaganza, has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak and will now run from August 16-23. Due to this postponement, all existing game submissions will be erased on April 26, and a new submission stage will begin on April 29. In addition, all interested volunteers will have to reapply, but if they have already submitted an audition, they will not have to submit a new one.

The good news is that a new online-only event called "Corona Relief Done Quick" will take place in April, with 100 percent of donations going to the humanitarian organization Direct Relief. Direct Relief works across the United States and in more than 80 countries to provide medical assistance "regardless of politics, religion, or ability to pay" to people in poverty or emergency situations.

Game applications for the CRDQ are now being accepted and will be accepted through April 2. Naturally, this will be a somewhat smaller and shorter show than the week-long events we are accustomed to: the GDQ has stated that it is trying to limit applications to allow the committee time to select games and put together a schedule; the CRDQ schedule will be posted on April 13 posted on April 13, and the event will run from April 17-19.

GDQ states that it "continues to actively monitor updates from WHO, CDC, local governments, and public health agencies regarding COVID-19," and will share any further updates on its website and Twitter feed.
