Transform your Animal Crossing home into a PC game with this handy design tool!

Animal Crossing Lately, the morning PC Gamer Slack discussion has been almost entirely dominated by New Horizons chat. Don't get us wrong, we haven't lost focus, but we've been having a lot of fun with the newest games on the slate. Half-Life: Alyx, Doom Eternal, and the upcoming Mount and Blade: Bannerlord have taken up a lot of space in our brains. However, it was impossible to ignore the appeal of Animal Crossing in these stressful times

. To maintain my sanity while working from home in self-isolation, I read and play "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" as soon as I wake up and before I go to bed. Even if it is in a virtual island full of cute animals, closed off from the unkind whims of the universe.

"Animal Crossing" is a timely zen garden, and even if it's not a PC version (although there are plenty of PC games that scratch the Animal Crossing itch), we can still bring a little bit of our platform to the littlest ones.

An integral part of the "Animal Crossing" experience is customizing your island, from the house to the clothes, and ACPatterns.com allows you to tweak your custom design on your web browser rather than on the Nintendo Switch's tiny screen. But our focus is on the "Convert" feature, which imports local image files and converts them to 32x32 pixel art format.

To create your own design, launch the ACPatterns editor, click "Convert," and import your images. Adjust it to be as readable as possible using several presets, then click "Generate QR code."

Importing the design into Animal Crossing requires a few more steps, as Nintendo is Nintendo. You need the Nintendo Switch Online app on your smartphone and a bit of configuration to make them talk to each other with the AC option. You can only save one QR pattern on your phone at a time, so you'll need to load the Animal Crossing island as well.

Open the Designs menu in the AC section of the Switch app and follow the instructions to scan the code. Once scanned, open the little virtual phone for Animal Crossing and go to the Custom Designs app and press the "+" button to download the pattern.

The same procedure needs to be repeated for all the patterns, so it can be quite tedious if you want to download many patterns at once, but it is worth it. Once you have a pattern, express yourself by putting it on your shirt, on your face, tiling it on the floor, or hanging it around the house.

To begin our home decorating journey, we've put together a few simple designs inspired by our favorite PC games. One in particular I'm particularly proud of is Tub Geralt Triptych.
