Mars Horizon, a friendly space exploration simulator, opens beta sign-ups on April 27.

A beta version of the space exploration simulation game Mars Horizon will be held next month. Described as a "strategic simulation game about space exploration," the game puts you in charge of a major space agency and attempts to send humans to Mars Mars Mars Horizon has been developed with the support of the European Space Agency (ESA) and will take place over the course of a space mission Advice is available on the actual science and planning. Beta testing is open for sign-ups and will begin on April 27. The beta test will last approximately eight hours and will take players through the early stages of spaceflight to the moon and back. Players can play as European, Russian, or American space agencies, upgrading rockets, building facilities, and sending people into space. Mars Horizon is not as hardcore as other space development simulations such as Kerbal Space Program.

As for Mars Horizon, we're lifting the "never go to Mars" warning.
