Nia Replicant," the previous title of "Nia Automata," will be released on PC.

Square Enix has announced that a remastered version of the cult classic "Nier Replicant," the predecessor to the blockbuster "Nier Automata," will be available for PC via Steam. So far, Square Enix has only released a teaser for the new version, "NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139... " which is oddly titled "NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139... The game is being developed by Toyologic in collaboration with Square Enix and Platinum Games, developer of the "Nier" series. Producer Yusuke Saito of Square Enix described the game as an "upgrade" rather than a remake or remaster: the new version will include fully voiced dialogue, new content, new songs by the original composer, and even a possible new ending. received lukewarm reviews from critics when it was first released, but the huge success of the related game, "Nier Automata," has led to increased interest in the game. Here's a pretty moody teaser:

"Nier Automata" is technically a sequel to "Nier Replicant," but neither game relies on the other to make sense of the story or events. The game is a pretty standard action-RPG with some detours into other genres, and this is before the frenetic, flashy combat that Platinum is now known for; Nier Replicant tells the story of a boy trying to cure his sister's illness in a near-future apocalyptic world. As is the case with most JRPGs, the story obviously gets quite complex from there. Replicant" is one of two versions, the other being "Gestalt."

It has been confirmed that it will be released on Steam, but there is no word on a release date at this time.
