General
This super-fast 2TB SSD is available today for $229.

The NAND flash memory chip market is a volatile one, and timing is everything when it comes to getting a good deal on a solid state drive. Last year, the best time to buy was around Black Friday and Cyber Monday in particular. Prices have since gone up, but you can still find bargains, like this fast Adata XPG SX8100 2TB SSD on sale today at Newegg for $229.99.

This isn't the cheapest price I've seen, but it is well below the list price of $299.99; Amazon's price history shows that the average price for this model since it was released last September is $252.77. What makes this deal stand out is that it is the fastest 2TB SSD you can find at this price.

The SX8100 is an NVMe drive and transfers data through the PCI Express bus (it plugs into the M.2 slot on the motherboard). It has a read speed of up to 3,500 MB/sec and write speed of up to 3,000 MB/sec. (This is really fast).

If you don't need that kind of speed for gaming and are just looking for a high-capacity SSD, the best value in the 2TB realm is Crucial's BX500 (530MB/s read, 500MB/s write), available at Newegg for $199.99. If you're looking for an M.2 form factor drive, Western Digital's Blue 2TB drive (560MB/s read, 530MB/s write) is available for $209.99 when you apply coupon code "3BKUPDAY25". Both

are fine for gaming. If you move a lot of files or want a more performance-oriented option, we recommend the Adata SX8100. For reference, Sabrent's Rocket 2TB SSD is rated at 3,400 MB/s read and 2,700 MB/s write, both slower than the Adata SSD and priced at $279.99.
