Free Trial Version and Friend Pass Available for "Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

"Ghost Recon: Breakpoint" was going to be really good: "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" is really good, it has John Bernthal, it even has John Bernthal's dog. Then it was released, but it really wasn't. Ubisoft took a stab at fixing it, but quickly realized that more drastic measures were needed, and in October 2019, the company undertook a major overhaul that it said would provide a "more extreme and immersive version" of the game.

After a slight delay, a more immersive mode called Ghost Experience appeared last week along with a free weekend that ended today. It must have worked out reasonably well, since Ubisoft seems to want to continue to showcase this mode in the future: today, Ubisoft announced a new Friend Pass. This Friend Pass allows those who own the game to play online with up to three friends who don't, with an ongoing trial period that grants everyone six hours of full access.

The Friend Pass is available on all platforms, but can only be shared on similar platforms, so if you have it on your PC (you do, don't you?), you can use it on your PC. Also, the Friend Pass is only available until June 16.

To take advantage of the Friend Pass, you must install a trial version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint from the Epic Games Store (not listed yet) or the Ubisoft Store. Installing the trial will allow you to connect with the owner and play online, as well as play solo for 6 hours. The timer only counts the time played, so you can come and go as you please until you reach the cumulative time limit, and playing through a friend pass does not count.

Unlike the Friend Pass, the trial mode will be permanent. The only catch is that the free weekend play that just ended counts, so if you spend more than 6 hours on the free weekend play, you will not be able to play solo on this trial version. You can use it to play FriendPass, though.
