PUBG will be running a fantasy battle royale event mode for a week beginning April 1. Fantasy means wizards, dragons and magic.

If you want to participate, follow the special banner in the main lobby. Before starting a match, you will be prompted to choose one of four character classes (wizard, barbarian, paladin, or ranger) taken straight out of D&D lore.

Of course, there are special fantasy-themed rewards for participants. This game mode is far from a perfect conversion, and the developers profess to have made some "different choices" about how to represent fantasy within PUBG's militaristic world. Sadly, this seems to mean that dragons will be the name of the map only: Erangel was temporarily reborn as Dragon Isle for this event.

PUBG's Fantasy Battle Royale will run from April 1 to April 7-8 (depending on time zone). The full announcement, including details of the event's rules, can be read on the game's Steam page.
