Wasteland 3" postponed to August.

inXile Entertainment's post-apocalyptic road trip set in the snowfields of Colorado, Wasteland 3, has been delayed. The studio announced today in an update to supporters of Fig that it was working remotely due to a coronavirus outbreak, which has resulted in "logistical challenges," and has pushed back the release date to August 28.

"We've taken the time to get feedback and suggestions from the beta, optimize, polish, and refine the game to make sure it's a great co-op experience," inXile said.

"We put our heart and soul into this game and would love nothing more than a great launch for a product we truly believe in.

Happily, almost everyone on Twitter has supported the decision, with the response to the postponement being almost universally supportive.

I recently played a preview build of Wasteland 3 and really liked it: it very clearly follows Wasteland 2 (which I also really like), but also manages to distance itself from its Fallout roots in various ways. But as much as I'm looking forward to playing the full game, this delay doesn't bother me at all. As promising (and brutal) as the preview was, it is still clearly pre-launch, and I felt that the previous release date of May 19 might be a little closer to comfort. More time means more polish, and hopefully there will be none of the tightness that usually accompanies the last-minute rush to release.
