Pong is back, this time with an RPG.

Atari has announced a new Pong game. No, it's an RPG starring "humanized paddles," with dungeons, cosmetics, loot, and perhaps even lore.

It's called Pong Quest, and it looks like a nostalgic distraction, especially if you played a lot of Atari 2600 games back in the day. There are dungeons and modes based on popular classics like Centipede and Breakout.

There are 50 different balls and 50 different abilities. The game also offers online and local multiplayer, where players will load up exquisitely decorated paddle characters with balls of varying power. The game will be released in the spring and in Australia in the winter.
