Frosthaven, the sequel to Gloomhaven, raises $5 million on its first day.

The Kickstarter campaign for Frosthaven, the sequel to the tabletop RPG game Gloomhaven, raised $5 million in its first day. The project has now raised ten times its original goal of $500,000.

Gloomhavens designer Isaac Childres launched the campaign on Tuesday, March 31 around 11 a.m. EST, and the tabletop reached its goal in 10 minutes, reaching $1 million in the first hour.

Frosthaven is the fourth successful Gloomhaven-related campaign launched by Childres; the first and second printings of Gloomhaven and its expansion, Founders of Gloomhaven, were all kick starter to raise funds.

The overwhelming support for Frosthaven is driven by the success of Gloomhaven, which has garnered much praise since its first release in 2017. The game is a cooperative RPG in which players dive into dungeons with their friends and fight monsters on their adventures. The storyline changes depending on the decisions made during the campaign, and characters can move on to other goals as they complete them. This game is a beast of a game and deservedly ranks high on our list of best board games.

Frosthaven follows the same design as its predecessor, but takes place in the harsh northern region of the game world. New features of Frosthaven include replacing currency with resource trading, rebuilding the town of Frosthaven to bring in new characters, and a puzzle book written in a strange language that will need to be deciphered during the journey The Kickstarter campaign runs through May 1.

If you like virtual tabletop games, the PC version of "Gloomhaven," currently in Early Access, looks quite promising. Thanks, Polygon [11].
