General
Ubisoft puts the brakes on Jaeger, the fast defender in Rainbow Six Siege.

Jaeger has been a mainstay of Siege since its launch in late 2015. The German operator is one of only seven Fast Defenders (characters with a 3-speed, 1-armor rating), making him a reliable peeker and flanker for players who don't want to hibernate at the objective point. His gadget can counteract grenades, a valuable unique ability until Wamai came along a few months ago. He's great.

But now Ubisoft is showing that Jaeger is no longer a member of the three-speed club. In a change introduced yesterday to the test server Ubisoft is using to test balancing ideas, Jaeger is now a 2-armor, 2-speed operator, joining Smoke, Mute, Ration, Oryx, and other operators of the same rank.

"Jaeger is a very powerful roamer and multiple data points show his huge presence in the game," Ubisoft explained in a test server update Ubisoft explained in a test server update." We are trying to mitigate that by reducing his roaming possibilities so that his presence in the game is a bit more contained."

Changing an operator's footspeed and associated durability would be a major change to their DNA. A bit of speculation suggests that the Jaeger's popularity has not been offset much by the introduction of the Wamai two updates ago. The ability to destroy an attacker's utility remains strong within the Siege meta at all levels.

Other operators received notable changes to their sidearms, with Buck losing access to flags and Mozzie losing his Super Shorty shotgun, for a total of only three operators equipped. The Inn continues to receive buffs and adjustments. Here is the full list:

BUCK - More keys, more open doors, more chances.

Buck has the team's unique soft-breach ability, which makes him the strongest. Claymore should reduce the punch from his kit flags, but should be more helpful in providing cover while he is soft breaching.

CAVEIRA - More customization!

I feel that the Razor is a great addition to the M12 as it provides better visibility while aiming and more customization options.

MOZZIE - Still the little guy <3.

He is now a strong intelligence counter and a great roamer at the same time. This gives him a very high game presence as a single operator.

Ying - a little more love for our Ying-chan.

Ying's presence is still lower than expected, even after improving her candela in Y5S1. Hopefully giving her a little more juice in gadgets and weapons will help her in that regard as well.

As always, these changes may look a little different when they are released to the full version of Siege, but traditionally what is released to the test server is a preview of what we will see in-game.

What these changes did not address is the recent, horrific, and thematically incongruous "Pizza Party" mozzie promotion skin. This cosmetic continues to go unchecked in both ranked and unranked matches, blending into Siege's various kitchen maps with near-perfect camouflage; did Ubisoft dare to intervene to nerf the pizza itself?
