Bethesda will not host a digital showcase this year, but still has something to say.

Every year, Bethesda holds an E3 press conference (technically pre-E3, but it's hardly worth distinguishing anymore) where they talk about what they will be working on in the coming year and beyond. Sometimes it's a relatively in-depth presentation of upcoming releases; other times it's just music and a title announcement and everyone goes wild.

With E3 cancelled this year due to the Coronavirus outbreak, some developers and publishers have moved to online-only presentations for the media and public, and gamers are eager to hear more about "Starfield" and "The Elder Scrolls 6" There was some hope that Bethesda might do this independently, as they were eager to do so.

Unfortunately, that won't be happening: Pete Hines, Bethesda's vice president of marketing, said on Twitter today that the company has things to talk about, but won't be doing it in an online showcase.

Both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 were announced two years ago at E3 2018. Virtually nothing has been said about either since then, but Bethesda's chief software engineer Todd Howard said at the time that Starfield had been in "active development" and "playable" for several years at that point, so this is the year we finally We know that TES6 will come later, but neither game currently has a public release target: Bethesda's priority is Starfield, and production on the new Elder Scrolls game will only get into full swing after Starfield" will be released after.
