MSI Prepares to Launch Intel 10th Generation Gaming Laptops, Others Coming in June?

Next-generation gaming laptops are big news today, but MSI thinks it may be one of the only manufacturers that actually has them in stock right now. That means your best chance to get your hands on a new Intel Comet Lake-H or Nvidia Super gaming laptop is with the Taiwanese tech giant.

Intel's 10th generation H-series gaming notebook CPUs have been announced. We have been looking forward to putting these 10th generation laptops through their paces, but due to global supply chain shortages, our most important question is when?

Earlier this month, we reported on how the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak affected both the supply chain and manufacturing, affecting everything from game development to hardware manufacturing. The ripple effect is that some manufacturers, with the exception of MSI, may have problems fulfilling orders for their 10th generation H-series gaming laptops due out this month.

"We have our own factory, so we have better control in production and shipping," said MSI's CEO, Mr. Krishnamoorthy. For sure, some of our 10th generation notebooks will be on the market by 4/15 (the no-sale date)."

Essentially, MSI owns almost the entire supply chain (factories, testing, etc.) and they are seemingly unaffected, which means the company can still continue to manufacture and ship products to the US and the rest of the world.

Intel sources also suggest that MSI may be the best chance to get its hands on a 10th generation laptop, which would seem to confirm that statement. Such a manufacturing lead would give the company a significant edge over competitors as others deal with supply chain issues and other manufacturing shortfalls in China and elsewhere.

However, MSI is not alone in its grasp of the supply chain, and it will be interesting to see where companies like Asus and Gigabyte stand in this assessment. However, while MSI seems confident that it still has inventory available, others do not.

"From the information we have received," concluded an MSI source, "most of the other brands will receive their inventory in late April or even May or June timeframe."
