As you know, Fallout 76 is coming to Steam in April, and today Bethesda announced good news for existing players: players who link their Steam and Bethesda accounts by 11:59 p.m. ET on April 12 will be able to play the to play the game for free on Steam.

Current players transitioning to Steam will not be able to take their Atoms, the game's premium currency, or Fallout 1st subscriptions with them, and Atoms earned after the transition will only be available on the platform they were earned on. However, items purchased from the in-game store will be available on both Steam and Bethesda.net, and all game progress will carry over between platforms.

Purchasing "Fallout 76" on Steam between April 14 and April 28 will also get the "Fallout Classic Collection" including "Fallout 1," "Fallout 2," and the underrated "Fallout Tactics" for free. The game is also currently available for free on Steam. Users who currently have the free Steam version will also get it for free if they activate the free Steam version during the same period.

The Steam version of "Fallout 76" will have the same achievements currently available on the console versions, but you will need to start a new character in order to earn the ones related to quests and levels you have already completed. will be shared, so players on both platforms can play together. Refunds for existing atoms will not be offered to players who wish to move to Steam. Also, apologies to console folks, but Steam's free offer is only available to PC players on Bethesda.net.
