General
Nvidia promises a new RTX 2060 laptop for $999, and we've dug up five so far.

When Nvidia announced its new RTX 2080 Super and RTX 2070 Super gaming laptops, along with the improved Max-Q design, it also promised an RTX 2060 laptop for $999 (£999). That's not a lot of money for a complete system, and it would be quite difficult to produce a desktop machine for that kind of money (not impossible, but it would be tough, especially since the screen would also have to be included in that price).

However, $999 is an important price point and makes it an attractive option for those who don't realize that a good gaming experience can be had for that amount of money. Especially since you get a machine that can run ray-tracing titles such as "Battlefield 5," "Shadow of the Tomb Raider," "Metro Exodus," "Control," etc. Getting smooth frame rates on the RTX 2060 requires playing with the settings, but it is definitely It is definitely possible, and regular non-RTX games run perfectly fine at 1080p high-fidelity settings on this GPU. [Specs-wise, the RTX 2060 for laptops is a decent slice of silicon, with 1920 CUDA cores, a 960MHz base clock, and 1185-1200MHz boost, and thanks to its 14Gbps 192-bit memory interface, you get 336GB/s of memory bandwidth, 6GB of video memory should be enough for the foreseeable future, especially at 1080p.

Various gaming laptop manufacturers have announced more affordable machines, and here is what we know at this time.

MSI GF65 Thin

The MSI GF65 Thin is already a fairly well-known laptop, so we know the most about MSI's machine. There are already several versions of this machine, but if you want a new $999 model, you need to look at the GF65 Thin 9SEXR. It has the all-important RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6, Intel Core i7 9750H (base clock 2.6GHz, max turbo 4.5GHz), 8GB DDR4-2666 memory, and 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD. It also has a 120Hz 1920 x 1080 IPS-level screen and Nahimic 3 high-res audio.

The GF65 thin has a fairly classic gaming chassis, with dark gray styling that matches well with MSI's choice of red accents. The main shell and chiclet-style key surrounds are brushed aluminum, and these keys are backlit in red, giving the system a distinctive look. While it is certainly a gaming machine, it does not make a strong statement about it.

To keep the GF65 Thin 9SEXR running cool, MSI upgraded the machine to use the Cooler Boost 5 system with a total of six heatpipes, two fans, and three exhausts. Cooling will be important here, as this laptop is 0.85 inches (21.7 mm) thick, not enough to threaten the thinnest machines, but still quite light. It weighs 4.1 pounds (1.86Kg).

Lenovo Y540

Lenovo has two different laptop lines that use the RTX 2060 but start at $999: the Legion 5i and the Lenovo Legion Y540. However, you won't be able to get the Legion 5i with RTX 2060 for $999.

So far, the Lenovo Legion 5i and Legion 7i feature Nvidia's new Advanced Optimus technology, which dynamically switches between CPU integrated graphics or Nvidia's discrete graphics depending on workload It is known to be the first machine to do so. We also know that the Legion 5i and 7i will use Intel's new 10th generation processors, and perhaps the Lenovo Legion Y540 will use the previous generation of chips. However, we have not yet heard what mode it will be in.

Therefore, if you are looking for a $999 RTX 2060 laptop, you should look at the Legion Y540; the Legion 5i will be more expensive at a guess, or use a 10th generation Intel cpu, too low on the pecking order.

Acer Nitro 5

Like almost all laptop brands these days, the Acer Nitro 5 ships in a variety of configurations, with the GeForce GTX 1650 Ti starting as low as $899. However, you will want something starting at $999 for the RTX 2060 model, and its actual details are not yet fully clear.

Acer has stated that the Acer Nitro 5 will feature up to a 10th generation Intel Core i7, which means they are considering a 9th generation processor to achieve the $999 price point. the Acer Nitro 5 also comes with up to two M.2 PCIe SSD and 1TB of HDD storage, so there could be some interesting options on this front as well. It can also be configured with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, but stay tuned for more details.

Although it is only speculation at this point, the Acer Nitro 5 with a GTX 1660 Ti is already available. Using this as a starting point, it will have a Core i5 9300H, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD for storage.

HP Omen 15

All we know at this stage about the HP Omen 15 is that it is included in the list of RTX 2060 laptops that will be available for $999. As soon as we know more details, we will update this page. However, we do have some cute images to show you.

Asus ROG G512

The same goes for the Asus ROG G512, which is listed on Nvidia's list as a $999 RTX 2060 laptop, but no details or images are available at this time.
