The dastardly ciphers of the Vallorant seem to have slipped out of the comics of Mad Magazine.

Valorant's closed beta is underway (and a big hit), but Riot isn't putting the brakes on its weekly character reveal series. Today we saw Cipher, a Moroccan master of subterfuge who looks like a refugee from a spy vs. spy strip.

This may have been intentional. The video shows a "cyber cage," a trap that slows down a passing enemy, and a manually operated remote camera "signature" that fires tracking darts at the enemy to reveal their location.

Cipher also has trapwires (not tripwires) that can be placed between walls, allowing him to briefly restrain enemies and reveal himself. His ultimate, Neural Theft, can use dead enemies to reveal the location of all remaining enemies.

Valorant characters revealed so far include Phoenix, Viper, Sova, Sage, and Jet, while Brimstone, Omen, Breach, and Reyes have yet to be in the spotlight. For more information on each character, please see the Character Guide. Also see the Valorant badges and rank names, as well as what the error codes mean if there are problems playing.

Valorant's closed beta is still drawing big numbers on Twitch: 1.4 million viewers now, down from a record 1.7 million earlier this week, but still a large audience Riot is still handing out closed beta keys to viewers. Riot is still distributing closed beta keys to viewers, but warned yesterday that the pace of distribution will remain slow for some time. It also warned against attempting to jump the queue by purchasing a beta account, stating that players who do so will be banned.
