A new Crysis is almost certain.

General
A new Crysis is almost certain.

In an April Fool's Day 2020 recap, crysis.com updated with a flashy new image of Nomad (or someone) suggesting that a new Crysis, one of the greatest "runnable" shooters in PC gaming, may finally be on the way mentioned, which seemed especially meaningful given that Crytek's March CryEngine Showcase video ended with a short clip of Crysis gameplay.

Unfortunately, a look at the source code for the Crysis web page revealed the words "April Fools" hidden in a meta tag. While it is hard to give up hope, this was pretty clear and seemed to put an end to the problem.

But today, this happened:

This is the first teaser from the Crysis Twitter account since December 2016. This tweet is the first of six others from that year (mostly promoting products), one from 2015 (also a product), and one dating back to 2013, when Crysis 3 was released. You can see the dust is settling on the brand.

In other words, this is far from a routine tweet and well past April 1. With the traditional E3 less than two months away, it's not unusual for a game to be announced at this time of year, and while Crysis will always be associated with PC games, a new generation of consoles could be the showcase for a new Crysis title. I have emailed Crytek, and while I doubt anyone will talk, I will let you know if they do.

Incidentally, here is the video, with the relevant part starting at 2:20.

Update: The source of the post said that the Crysis video at the end of the video above was remastered. Several people in the comments section have said that it is not, in fact, and that Crysis just still looks that good, and after squinting a few more times, I agree and have removed the "remastered" reference.
