I always thought of Henry Cavill as a very uptight, proper type of guy: the kind of guy who would be surprised and scolded by Jason Momoa during a live interview. (Yes, I have used this reference before. And I'll note again that that heavily weighted incident actually ended wonderfully.)

But Cavill's geeky interests paint a different picture: he was chosen to play Geralt in Netflix's "The Witcher" because he is a big fan of The Witcher in real life and threw himself into the role with all his might. He also played six different races in "Total War: Warhammer 2" and played it six times.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Cavill revealed that his love of Warhammer actually goes deeper than just video games.

"It's one of my almost lifelong hobbies that I've been pursuing but not actively doing. A company called Games Workshop ...... Or "plastic crack" as "we" call it," he wrote in a post about the Adeptus Custodes helmets he paints. I really can't get enough of the lore they've built up over the decades." They are the players I have read most passionately about! If I used to deny that I was a nerd, I can't hide it anymore."

Games Workshop is the company behind the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 brands, which encompass a huge lineup of tabletop games, RPGs, novels, and of course video games.

Things have certainly changed since the initial lukewarm reaction to the news that Cavill had been cast as Geralt. Especially since, as redditor idols2effigies pointed out, he has been walking among us for years in hiding, making custodes, and is Superman.

Not surprisingly, this happened.

Cavil also thanked the National Health Service and health care workers around the world for their "relentless efforts to protect us" and gave notice of "a whole new skill" he is working on. Perhaps, anyway: "There is no use squinting or trying to take our digital focus off," Cavill wrote.

Cavill writes: "It's a shame.

Unfortunately, Cavill did not say when he would stop painting miniatures and return to work on "The Witcher" Season 2. Season 2 of the big monster-hunting show was scheduled to debut in early 2021, but Netflix suspended production in March due to a coronavirus outbreak, and there is no word yet on when it will resume.
