Steam Game Festival to be held on the opening day of E3

In March, Valve hosted the Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition. This was a showcase of more than 40 game demos that were scheduled to be exhibited at GDC before it was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. It will be held again this June.

The Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition will run from June 9-14 and will once again offer demos and "short playable experiences" of games scheduled for release within the next year. The spring event was indie-focused and will likely continue as such, but given that it will be held on the same day as E3 2020, this event may have a bigger tent.

No details other than the date have been revealed, but this will be the first "big" online event decided upon since E3 was cancelled and, more specifically, since the ESA scrapped plans to host an "online experience" in place of the 2020 show. Microsoft has promised an online presentation in place of this year's E3, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts have said they are considering it, and Devolver Digital is still planning to do a Devolver Direct show, but so far none of the dates are not confirmed. Our own E3 event, the PC Gaming Show, will also take place this June.

If you are a developer and would like to attend this show, just sign up by April 24. For more information, including demo requirements, an "artist statement," and an optional live presentation, click here.
