Apex Legends Map Rotation Changes to Make Season 4 More Competitive

Last week, Electronic Arts kicked off "The Old Ways" event for Apex Legends. At the same time, the company rolled out a map rotation, allowing players to play in duos or trios with a choice of either Kings Canyon or World's Edge.

Not everyone was happy with the rotation, however, and today it was announced that Nighttime Kings Canyon has been removed from the rotation and that Kings Canyon's rotation timer (the amount of time a map can be played before it moves to the next map) has been reduced . Previously, players could play for about an hour before the map switched over, but Reddit comments indicate that time may vary; EA did not specify what time the change was made, but the net result is that players will be able to play The Old Ways event, which takes place longer play time on the World's Edge map.

While the increased variety is a plus, Dexerto said the rotation has had a negative impact on queue times, slowing the Season 4 grind for some players and helping to raise players' Battle Pass level World's Edge Specific challenges were harder to complete; EA basically said the same thing in a follow-up tweet.

"We hope players will be able to continue using the Season 4 Battle Pass or test their skills in the new Bloodhound Town Takeover. Also, Kings Canyon is still playable in Ranked." [The Apex Legends Old Ways event runs through April 21. If you haven't checked it out yet, visit ea.com for more information.
