Amid COVID-19 Pandemic, English Premier League Eyes "FIFA 20"

While most professional sporting events have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, video games are doing the heavy lifting. Last month, the Formula 1 Grand Prix took place on Twitch instead of in the real world. And now the English Premier League is about to take place on the virtual grounds of FIFA 20.

The ePremier League Invitational Tournament will run for a week starting tomorrow and will feature "familiar faces" from each of the 20 Premier League teams. The matches will be broadcast on Sky Sports, but will also be available on Facebook and YouTube. 19 matches will be played in a knockout tournament, with players such as Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester's Raheem Sterling, and Sheffield's Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester's Raheem Sterling, and Sheffield's Lis Mousset are among the players confirmed for the tournament.

According to the announcement, prize money from the tournament will be donated to the #PlayersTogether initiative, which raises funds for the National Health Service in the UK. Four matches will be played each day and broadcast from noon Japan time through Friday (April 24). The semi-finals and final will be broadcast on the 25th at 3pm BST.

The schedule can be found on the Premier League website.
