17-inch gaming laptop with GTX 1660 Ti for $990

Asus just recently updated its TUF gaming laptop series with AMD's latest generation processors. This also means that vendors are looking to clear out the virtual shelves of last year's models, and a bargain gaming laptop may be in your future. In the meantime, last year's TUF Gaming TUF705DU-KH74 is now on sale at Newegg for $989.99.

Technically, this is $310 off the list price, and Newegg advertises this sale as such. Realistically, this is a $110 savings over the latest generation A17 model.

If you can wait, have the extra cash, and are interested in a larger 17.3" laptop, by all means buy the refreshed model. With a faster Ryzen 7 4800H processor and 1TB of storage, it is well worth the $110 price difference.

However, $110 is not an insignificant amount of money, and if you need a 17.3" laptop right now, the discounted TUF Gaming TUF705 is a steal: 4-core/8-thread Ryzen 7 3750H processor (clocked at 2.3GHZ to 4GHz), 16GB of RAM, and a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also has a 512GB NVMe SSD.

Simply put, it is one of the fastest 17.3" configurations available for under $1,000.

You may recall that Nvidia promised a laptop with a GeForce RTX 2060 for $999. However, those will undoubtedly be 15.6-inch laptops.

Regardless, if you need a larger gaming laptop that you can use right now, the TUF Gaming, on sale here at a discount, is a great deal.
